THE CANADIAN PRESS / Justin Tang The Liberal government bill on cyberbullying, which has been hotly debated among members of parliament, is now being addressed to the Senate. The C-11 bill was passed in the third reading in the House of Commons with 208 votes against 117 against, with the Conservatives opposing the proposed legislation. It will also apply to platforms such as YouTube and Spotify, forcing them to promote Canadian music artists by law. Critics of the bill say that as it stands at the moment, it could also apply to amateur videos and content created by users posted on YouTube. The government has faced protests from Conservative and Green MPs after halting the debate and debating amendments in the cultural heritage committee to move the bill to the House of Commons ahead of the summer recess.
