UPDATE: 15:45 The Vancouver Police Department confirmed that the search warrant Thursday morning was due to gang activity. “We are conducting an ongoing criminal investigation into violence and organized crime. We have no additional information to share at this time,” VDP said in an emailed statement. It is unclear if any charges have been filed as a result of Thursday’s police action. UPDATE: 15:13 Several arrests were made following a search warrant Thursday at a home along Martin Avenue. The Kelowna RCMP along with the Southeast Regional Emergency Response Team assisted the Vancouver Police Department in conducting the investigation in connection with an ongoing criminal investigation. “While we cannot comment on any of the details at this time, this is a great example of how many police agencies have come together to make our roads safer across British Columbia,” said Cst. Mike Della-Paolera confirms that police are conducting a search warrant at 1091 Martin Ave. Kelowna RCMP and ERT arrived on scene just before 10:30 “I can’t give any more details right now,” Della-Paolera said. UPDATE 11:13 AM RCMP appear to be focused on a home at 1091 Graham St., our reporter on scene indicates officers appear to be searching the home. The RCMP ERT team has left the scene and police have opened up Graham St. and Martin Ave. except for the area directly in front of the house in which they appear to be focused. UPDATE 10:51 AM The RCMP Emergency Response Team is now packing up and leaving the area around the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club on Graham St. RCMP police cruisers remain at the scene.
