Mexican media reported that the victims had had their necks cut off, citing a local police report. The Quintana Roo attorney general’s office said the two had been stabbed, but did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Their bodies were found in local shelters and a third person, a man, was also injured, the office said. The Canadian embassy in Mexico confirmed that the dead were Canadian citizens and said it was in contact with local authorities. He said he could not reveal more information at this time.
