Donald Trump filed suit against a House committee on Jan. 6 in an effort to avoid testifying after the former president was subpoenaed by a congressional committee investigating the Capitol attack. Meanwhile, Mr Trump is continuing his attacks on rival Ron DeSandis after the Florida governor’s impressive showing in the midterm elections and increased talk of his potential as a 2024 presidential candidate. In a lengthy and sometimes surreal statement last night, Mr. Trump claimed that in 2018, he single-handedly saved Mr. DeSantis’ first gubernatorial campaign — and that he sent in the FBI and U.S. attorneys to protect the governor from defeat in the face of alleged election fraud in key counties. There is no proof that his story is true. Longtime MAGA allies and fans have turned on Mr. Trump as the midterm results have become clearer, with some openly accusing the former president of helping prevent the planned “red wave” that was supposed to sweep Democrats from power. Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp empire – which includes Fox News on TV and the New York Post in print – made its feelings about Mr Trump clear with a scathing cover story this week.

Youngkin dodges question about Trump insults
Virginia Republican Gov. Glenn Youngin dodged questions from reporters about Donald Trump’s insults against him. “I endorsed him, I gave him a really big Trump Rally on the phone, I got MAGA to vote for him – otherwise he wouldn’t have come close to winning,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Young Kin (now that’s an interesting point of view. Sounds Chinese, doesn’t it?) in Virginia couldn’t have won without me,” he added. Gustaf Kilander 13 November 2022 00:00 1668294005
VOICES: Republicans are finally turning on Trump. But will it last?
Impact bracket. On Thursday night, former President Donald Trump’s office confirmed the details of his announcement next week at Mar-a-Lago, where he will apparently announce he is running for a third term. But almost immediately afterward, Trump himself brushed aside the news by throwing the political equivalent of a Molotov cocktail at the entire conservative political establishment, specifically targeting his potential opponent, Florida Gov. Ron DeSandis. He did so as the right-wing media began to blame him for the Republicans’ poor performance on Tuesday. As the New York Times reported, Rupert Murdoch’s media has been especially hard on him, with the New York Post lambasting him for his failings in a front page that portrayed him as “Trumpty Dumpty.” Similarly, Paul Ryan, the former speaker of the House for Trump’s first two years in office, told an ABC affiliate that “Trump is kind of a drag on our ticket” and “causes us problems politically” — while noting that the GOP lost the House. , the Senate and the White House during Trump’s first midterm debacle of 2018. Sheriff Joe Lombardo wins Nevada gubernatorial race amid claims Trump nearly withdrew his endorsement for failing to call him ‘great’
The Republican narrowly defeated Democratic incumbent Steve Sisolak in the Silver State, according to a race call by The Associated Press on Friday night. The Clark County sheriff lashed out at the one-term president during an October debate in the swing state in which he failed to credit Trump for his time in the White House. According to the New York Times, Mr. Trump called Rona McDaniel, the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, and threatened to drop Lombardo. Ms. McDaniel asked for an hour to fix the situation, people familiar with the situation told the newspaper, and Sheriff Lombardo quickly issued a statement calling Trump a “great president.” Graeme Massie November 12, 2022 10:00 p.m 1668287705

The outgoing GOP senator says he doesn’t think Trump will run again
Despite reports that Donald Trump is set to announce his 2024 presidential campaign on Tuesday, outgoing Ohio GOP Sen. Rob Portman told CNBC he doesn’t think Trump will run again. “I think he’s likely to look at the polls and say he doesn’t want to lose,” Mr Portman told Squak Box. “Well, I don’t think he’s going to make it at the end of the day. However, he is still a strong force in the party, and again, his approval rating is high. It can play a constructive role. In his administration, everything he did on tax policy, regulatory policy, foreign policy, even building up the military—lots of good things to talk about. That’s the role he should be playing.” Gustaf Kilander November 12, 2022 8:30 pm 1668282305
Trump backs down on 2024 announcement
Trumpworld spokesman Jason Miller backed off his advice that Mr. Trump hold off on his 2024 campaign announcement until the Dec. 6 Georgia Senate runoff. “President Trump is going to announce on Tuesday that he’s running for president, and it’s going to be a very professional, very buttoned-up announcement,” Mr. Miller said Friday on Steve Bannon’s podcast. “Of course, President Trump had said he would make an announcement on November 15th, next Tuesday. I advise the president to hold off until the Georgia game,” Mr. Miller previously told Newsmax. “Priorities A, B and C must concern Herschel [Walker] right now,” he added before changing his tune. “This is bigger than anything else in the country. We have to show that the focus is on Georgia.” Gustaf Kilander November 12, 2022 7:45 pm 1668279605

Trump’s former national security adviser makes baseless allegations of fraud
Michael Flynn, Donald Trump’s first national security adviser, claimed that Blake Masters and Mark Finchem won in Arizona without any evidence to back it up. Mr. Masters lost the Arizona Senate race, and Mr. Finchem lost the contest to become that state’s secretary of state. Flynn also claimed that Kari Lake won the gubernatorial election in the state, but in that election, the winner has yet to be declared. Gustaf Kilander November 12, 2022 5:45 pm 1668272405
Former Bush speechwriter outlines GOP problems beyond Trump
Former George W. Bush speechwriter David Frum tweeted Saturday morning that “it’s not just Trump. The GOP also reacted to Roe v Wade’s overturning of punitive state laws. is preparing to pass a national ban. Rallying to a US Senate candidate in Georgia who has promised to ban all abortions except those he personally coerces women into.” “The candidacy of Herschel Walker was so important because it made it clear … everyone important in the GOP — from top elected officials to internet and TV speakers — agrees: abortion restrictions are only for you, with exceptions of course for them and allies. added the Atlantic staff writer. “Repression seasoned with extreme hypocrisy. That’s Walker’s message — and because so many influential Republicans rallied so strongly to Walker, that message stuck with them, too,” he added. “There was talk early on that after Roe there could be a new era of support for women and children: enhanced nutrition assistance in pregnancy, child benefits, etc. Unlikely, but [would] possibilities have opened up. On the contrary: Walker and “laws for our subjects, exceptions for ourselves,” he concluded. Gustaf Kilander 12 November 2022 17:00
