Jennifer Woodhouse, 18, of Alfreton, Derbyshire, and Lara Meldrum, 19, of Arnold, Nottinghamshire, were involved in the collision shortly before 7 a.m. Friday, June 17. Jennifer Woodhouse Jennifer’s family said: “Jennifer was a force of nature. A beautiful kind-hearted, hardworking, caring and compassionate young woman with the world in front of her. He was our beautiful little star. We all have the privilege we had in our lives. It was absolutely hilarious jokes with a clever sense of humor that never failed. She would roll on the floor with her friends laughing at the most silly thing. “He had a deep-rooted sense of morality and principles and lived by what he believed. She just loved people and above all she believed in and defended her whole family, staying by their side in everything, helping us all when we were injured, caring when we were sick, advising us through our turmoil and always making us laugh and we smile. She loved her brother more than life itself and he strongly protects her. They had the most beautiful bond and although they could bother each other if something happened they would be against the world. She was so thoughtful and spent time with her extended family whenever she could. “It was a whirlwind of energy and it went from baking cakes, to dancing, to painting, to playing with her dog, Kevin. She lived life to the fullest and looked to the future, always planning and saving money for her travels or her car or whatever she wanted. She was persistently independent, refusing help to buy a car because she could build it herself. He loved dinosaurs and crocuses and shopping on the Internet, always waiting for a package. She could be whatever she wanted, she was so smart, so hardworking and so skilled. Jen loved to work and earn her own money, she always worked longer hours than we asked her to, and her colleagues became lifelong friends. Even before her paid job, Jen volunteered at Barnardos where she worked every week making friends with young and old and having a lot of fun. Jen could be a top chef working in a cafe, a pub and most recently on Pizza Express. She was capable over the years and took on far more responsibilities than a teenager should have. Jen brightens the working day wherever she was and always gave 100%. “It always puts others above everything else. She understood people so well and last year, when her mom and brother were sick, she was not only a great supporter, but also a champion who shaved her head for charity. Jen was a mental health hero and took care of all her friends. He knew when things were not going well and went downstairs saying “we have to leave” and was a great support for many in really dark times, staying with friends when the elderly would have a hard time coping. He was also very funny and would make silly videos or Tik Toks, make friends everywhere and make any situation full of healthy fun. “In recent years she has done amazingly well in her GCSE and went to college to study her A Levels. She met some of her best friends and enjoyed adventures especially with Lara, and their vacation in Blackpool was hilarious. Jen was a student who loved to teach, she was a bright light that always laughed and kept the teachers in their minds. It was a mass in mathematics. She studied, worked and had incredible fun and has a place at Uni in September to study math and always found time for her family and friends. “The world is better for you to have it in and it will miss you terribly. She was an incredible person who blessed all those who knew her kindness, her smart empathy, her charm, her humor and her complete brilliance that made us all become better people. “If you know Jennifer, you love her.” Lara Meldrum Lara’s family has also honored: “Friends to the end. Having completed their A Level exams, Lara and Jennifer had a fun summer before starting their studies together at Sheffield Hallam University in September. A day trip to the beach ended so tragically. Lara was a fun girl whose gentle and caring nature touched so many of her friends all over the country. Born in Chesterfield, she lived most of her life in Coxley, Somerset and Arnold, Nottingham. Her friendships remained close and in some cases stronger despite the distances. We have never met anyone with so many “best friends”, something that so many proudly called her. He followed in the footsteps of Ross’s older brother and became a valued member of The Nottingham Ice Hockey Club. She was proud to have won a National Championship and played for a while at Elite level with the women’s team The Vipers. Traveling by bus to away games from Scotland, Whitley Bay, Guildford, Streatham and many more in between were some of the funniest moments ever. Lara would be the leader of karaoke, dance and all sorts of hilarious jokes. She loved those trips with the girls by bus. Lara most recently worked part-time at McDonald’s in Arnold. The shy girl who went for her interview blossomed and her colleagues were soon fascinated by this contagious smile and fun. She worked hard to save money to pay for vacations with her friends, nights out and her new love for clothes. Every Crocs color you could buy and a hood to match them! Always at the center of the fun and with a great sense of adventure, we always said he lived life in “Lara Time in Lara World”. This could be going to her favorite Cockapoo Jet for an adventure in the woods or going for a late night walk with her friends. We will miss him jumping on our bed every night to talk before we go to bed. We will miss devoting days to bringing down her washing machines and dishes. We will miss him stealing our phones and taking random photos without us knowing it. We will miss her charming ability to get to College, even though she was just given money for the bus. We will miss her fake tan that made her look like a tiger loaf on the 3rd day. “HE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED”.
