After DJ LeMahieu flew to the right to start the game, Aaron Judge took a walk away from Kikuchi. Then Josh Donaldson was hit from a field and hit with his bat on the ground annoyed, although the ball barely seemed to be brushing his shirt. Kikuchi managed to overtake Giancarlo Stanton by swinging, but with Gleyber Torres catching him, Alejandro Kirk abruptly dropped to first place and picked Donaldson to finish the inning. While the Yankees missed their chance to score in the first, the Blue Jays did not. While Luis Severino made George Springer fly out, he then walked Bo Bisset to four pitches. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. followed a crushing home game and quickly made it 2-0. Sevy then walked Kirk, but hit Teoscar Hernandez and Santiago Espinal to keep him there. The 2-0 margin would not last long. Torres started with the bat in the second and took full advantage of it, hitting a solo shot in the left field. Kikuchi hit Aaron Hicks – he lost badly, as did Donaldson HBP. Unfortunately, Kyle Higashioka kicked out looking, then the Jays executed a strikeout double play when Marwin Gonzalez did the same and Hicks was thrown out trying to steal the second base. Sevy had a second inning with two hits, although it took a good run by Joey Gallo to get a double from Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Kikuchi could not keep the baserunners from scoring in the third, eventually. Gallo took a walk to drive the inning away and took second place at a LeMahieu stadium. Kikuchi connects wiith the pass and nutmegs the keeper! Donaldson, who had already won a lot of disapproval from the antics he made in his first game, gained even more by smashing a house and launching a rich rebound. If you’re going to get upset, Josh, do it! Severino scored a third without a score, working around Guerrero. Kikuchi did the same in the fourth, working around a single Torres leadoff. After Sevy threw a clean sheet, Kikuchi was replaced at the top of the fifth by Adam Cimber. Gallo walked immediately and then LeMahieu left a bun single. Judge extended the lead with a double RBI to lead Gallo, his first success of the day. Simber hit Donaldson and Stanton swinging into high-speed balls, but could not get the hot Torres, who scored another double to lead the other two to make it 6-2. Springer was finally able to break his long streak without hitting the bottom of the fifth with a home solo, making it 6-3. However, the Yankees returned quickly after Higashioka hit a solo shot 426 feet from Max Castillo, making his MLB debut. Then they caught another one, with a Homer who looked a lot like Marvin Gonzalez. Despite the high number of pitches, Severino was allowed to start the sixth season, but was pulled out and replaced by Miguel Castro, after allowing Guerrero and Kirk to arrive. Castro took two outs and then walked over Matt Chapman. Gurriel followed by mashing a grand slam, suddenly turning it into a series game. Wandy Peralta came in and managed to get Springer to finish the rally. Yimi Garcia sent the Yankees to seventh in a row, including Stanton and Torres swinging strike-outs. Torres and Garcia appeared to be shouting at each other as they left the pitch. Peralta, unfortunately, could not maintain the lead of a series. After Bichette reached a single on the pitch and Kirk walked, Teoscar Hernández started a home run in the center to give the Blue Jays the lead and make it 10-8. These Yankees do not give up, though. Anthony Rizzo, given the day off, hit for Higashioka with an out in the eighth, against Tim Mayza. He was the winner of the left-left match, sending a home run solo to the right and reducing the deficit in a row. Then Gonzalez stood out. Manager Aaron Boone hit Jose Trevino for Gallo, who walked away. Toronto closer Jordan Romano came in to try to secure a five-out save. He took the first two of those outs and completed the inning, making LeMahieu fly out and overtake Judge. Ron Marinaccio scored an eighth without a score, leaving it to the attack. Donaldson looked outside and followed a walk to Stanton. Torres flew into the center of the pitch, leaving it in the hands of Rizzo, who left to finish the game – and the nine-game winning streak. It would always be a challenge for the Yankees to sweep the Blue Jays in Toronto. It’s a bit disappointing that they had the opportunity and lost the lead. But this was the first game in the whole year that their staff on the field gave up 10 runs and almost equalized anyway. They will be content with the victory of the road series and the record 49-17. The Yankees will face the Tampa Bay Rays tomorrow at the Tropicana Field, with Gerrit Cole facing Shane McClanahan. The first stadium is at 7:10 p.m. ET. Framework rating
