MS The World was released in 2001 and operates as the floating equivalent of a luxury apartment building. The ship has about 165 apartments with an elite group of wealthy passengers from more than 40 countries. The World is registered in the Bahamas and is almost 200 meters long, 29.8 meters wide and has 12 decks. In 2017 the ship broke the record for the southernmost voyage when Captain Dag H. Sævik, the crew and the 63 inhabitants of the ship arrived in the Gulf of Whale in Antarctica. On board, the ship features a grocery store, a golf simulator and tennis court, as well as a cinema, six restaurants and live music shows.
