Toronto resident 33-year-old Tenzin Norbu faces four charges in connection with the incident, including attempted murder and assault.
On Friday, June 17, police said a man on a bus at Kipling Station allegedly threw flammable liquid at a female passenger and set her on fire.
The woman, believed to be around 20, suffered second- and third-degree burns.  He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said the suspect escaped from the area, but was later located and taken into custody.
On Sunday, police identified Norbu as a suspect and said they were treating the incident as a suspected hate crime.
Police said Norbu and the victim were unknown to each other and that the attack was an isolated incident.
Norbu is scheduled to appear in court today at 10 a.m.
