Meta launches Avatars Store for digital fashion.
Meta opens an Avatars Store where you can buy clothes for your avatar on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. The new looks include nannies from Balenciaga, Prada and Thom Browne, and the company expects to add more designers over time. Zuckerberg and Eva Chen, vice president of fashion partnerships at Meta, announced the new store on Instagram Live, calling it “the first live fashion show with an avatar”. U.S. Senators Ed Markey, Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Saunders wrote a letter to Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo urging her ministry to develop a “comprehensive strategy” that would lead to a common billing model. The EU has acted in the “public interest” by deploying in a port, senators said, and the US should follow suit to reduce the environmental impact of chargers while improving user comfort.
