Katie Hobbs has widened her lead in the tight Arizona governor’s race, with Republican candidate and 2020 re-election negator Cary Lake trying to cast doubt on the results if she loses. As of Thursday morning, Ms. Hobbs, the Democratic secretary of state, was leading with 50.3 percent of the vote to Ms. Lake’s 49.7 percent. However, with only 70 percent of the vote counted, it is too early to call the race and the result is expected to break down. On Wednesday, Ms Lake claimed she was headed for victory, tweeting: “Remaining ballots (Election Day & Early Dismissal) are all cracked BIG for Lake Cary. As we knew they would.” The Donald Trump ally has already hinted she will refuse to accept the result if she loses, telling supporters on Tuesday night that “we need a fair election”. The race for the US Senate seat also remains in the balance with Democrat incumbent Sen. Mark Kelly currently leading Republican Blake Masters – with a staggering 30 percent of the vote yet to be counted.

The endorsements that helped and hindered during the interim period

However, rather than being a golden ticket, it appears that Mr Trump’s support is more of a coin flip. According to polling data from midterm contests that have been called, the former president’s preferred candidates have been successful in only about half of the House and gubernatorial races, though they have fared well in Senate races so far. “People want to stop the circus”

Few were picking Lauren Boebert’s congressional race to go down to the wire. “She is the existing one. represents a co-ninth Republican district. she’s outbid Adam Frisch, so she has more money to spend on her campaign,” Justin Gollob, political science professor, told The Independent’s Sheila Flynn. “Her name recognition is higher than Adam Frisch’s. Probably one of his biggest liabilities at this point is his junior name recognition. “All these signs point to a fairly convincing victory. What’s really surprising, at this point, is that we’re even discussing the competitiveness of this race.” Read Sheila’s fascinating account of how Ms. Boebert’s “outrage” alienated voters.
