The couple, in their 70s and from the Cloneen area of ​​South Tipperary, had not seen each other for 18 months.  A local source said: “The bodies could have been there for a long, long time.” 
However, investigators will have to wait for test results to determine a time frame for when the couple died, the Irish Mirror reports.  The Irish Mirror understands that they had not seen them for so long that some neighbors had the impression that they had moved out of their house.

But a local source said suspicions had surfaced in recent days and someone had informed the Gardai.  The police called the property around 4 in the afternoon yesterday and made the gloomy discovery. 

The source said: “Some neighbors thought they had moved away, but unfortunately that was not the case. The couple kept to themselves a lot and many would not know them personally, but only with hello if they passed them walking or something like that “. Locals in the area last night said the couple was from England. Gardai confirmed that an investigation was under way as they investigated “all the circumstances”, but early indications were that there may have been no foul. The house was sealed yesterday afternoon as the bodies remained there as the Garda Technical Office conducted an examination. Investigators also confirmed that the offices of the State Pathologist had been notified. Local councilor Mark Fitzgerald said people were surprised by the news.
