The Dutch star has already expressed his desire to leave the North London club this summer, after failing to win a regular place in the starting line-up under Antonio Conte last season. And a De Telegraaf report claims that a new offer from Ajax is on its way for the 24-year-old. Tottenham’s sporting director Fabio Paratici is believed to estimate Bergwijn at around ,6 25.6 million. But that number is well ahead of Ajax’s initial offer of 15 15 million plus 4 4.3 million in additives. The Daily Mirror reported last month that the Dutch team was ready to look for the polite winger. However, they will make a significant improvement in this offer if they want to get their man. Bergwijn scored just four goals and added two assists in 32 games for Tottenham last season. But his most memorable moment of the season came when he scored twice in the delays to turn the 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 win over Leicester in January.
Bergwijn’s talent has not shown enough
However, his overall record is not good. Indeed, the Dutchman has scored just eight goals in 83 appearances for the club. Nevertheless, Bergwijn has shown flashes of his true ability that may entice Conte to hold him. But a lot will depend on the type of striker that Tottenham will bring this summer. Conte is known to want another No. 9 to support Harry Kane, with Richardson and Gabriel Jesούςs the names in the frame for the role. Both the Everton player and Manchester City are also capable of playing widely. To that end, Bergwijn’s future in north London looks doomed, but only if Daniel Levy gets the price he is asking for.
