The Cost Of Living Benefit Is Distributed By Mail Only

Some people are reacting with anger to the news that the $500 cost-of-living checks will be sent by mail — not direct deposit. The Treasury Department will only say that the money will start coming out around the middle of this month and that all checks will be distributed in about six weeks. They will be mailed to eligible residents based on their address on file with Canada Revenue Agency starting in June 2022. The processing order is based on individual incomes, meaning the lowest earners get their money first.
