Police said a 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of assault after the incident in Seymour Park. Police were called to the scene at approximately 5.10 p.m. on Saturday, June 18th. The boy is said to be hospitalized in a stable condition. Police at Seymour Park in Trafford Credit: MEN Media GMP Trafford District Inspector Matthew Harvey said: “Police moved quickly to arrest him and the suspect is being questioned in custody.” Police have also received additional legal powers to stop and search people in Seymour Park and the surrounding area. including Ayres Road, Humphrey Road, Northumberland Road and Seymour Grove. Under the additional powers – known as Section 60 – anyone in the designated area at a specific time can stop and search. Chief Inspector Shoheb Chowdhury, GMP Trafford County, said: “We fully understand the impact that events like yesterday could have on our communities and we simply will not tolerate it. “This police force is committed to fighting, preventing and reducing crime, while keeping people safe, and that is our rationale for approving today’s Unit 60. “Members of the public can wait to see additional police officers in the area and there is a possibility that the investigations themselves will stop. We thank them in advance for their cooperation. “ The GMP added in a statement: “As part of our #ForeverAmnesty ‘bin the knife’ campaign, we are reminding the public that there is at least one amnesty bin at a police station in every part of Greater Manchester. “There are 13 amnesty bins permanently located throughout the greater Manchester area where you can deposit a knife anonymously.”
