Summer Game Fest: Play Days + Seth Cuddeback LOS ANGELES — Last week’s Summer Game Fest was, for the most part, a virtual affair, full of video game trailers that may or may not be released over the next 18 months. However, as the gaming industry nears normalcy preview, we’ve put together invitations to two events in early June with games that can be played soon. You may have already seen my biggest practical snapshots of these events: Street Fighter 6, which is fantastic, and Sonic Frontiers, which is weird but very promising. This article summarizes the “best of the rest” based on hands-on tests at the Summer Game Fest Play Days in Los Angeles and a series of remote-connected Tribeca Games Festival demonstrations. Some of the world’s biggest developers and publishers were missing from the events — no doubt because many of their games have been moved to 2023. Although this list focuses more on the independent side, we stand behind these game preview highlights thanks to in how they felt playing. Cuphead game trailer: The Delicious Last Course.

Cuphead bullet-hell bruality will return later this month as a $ 7.99 DLC pack. If the boss level sample I played is a clue, this DLC would be good for fans of the series instead of overturning the Cuphead formula.
A new character that Ms. can play. Chalice is available as a “charm” that can equip a player at any time and comes with some beginner-friendly perks, such as an extra health point, a double jump, a dilemma that doubles as a forward dash, and a mound that adds a few frames. undefeated. Her new skills were not necessarily necessary in the new boss battle I played — although because I was awesome at Cuphead, I still struggled with the three phases of the race, which included a steep transition to floating, rotating platforms (consider Super Reznor’s second Reznor Mario World wrestling).

It is available in a new campaign in which executive producer Marija Moldenhauer says Ars is comparable to the original game’s third island – which included seven bosses and two platform levels. Moldenhauer says the DLC will have six bosses, which it insists are more involved and complicated than the standard game selection, but would not specify what else the DLC would contain.
Moldenhauer also says that the DLC includes almost as many backgrounds and hand-drawn animation frames as the whole of the typical Cuphead campaign. This could mean that the boss battles I have not played yet are even more intense or that there is another huge platforming challenge. Either way, the $ 7.99 seems like a DLC option to buy for anyone who has already invested in Cuphead’s meticulously designed 2D action.

EA and Codemasters hosted a F1 2022 game demo to showcase the newest feature in the series: VR Racing. The Codemasters producers have confirmed that the studio’s combined brain trust has matured enough to add a VR feature to F1, thanks to contributions from those working on VR features in DiRT Rally and Driveclub VR. (Evolution Studios built the latter before Codemasters acquired it in 2016).
The toy maker’s booth combines Fanatec’s CSL DD F1 package with a VR Quest 2 headset set. F1 immediately. The only exception to comfort came from moments when the game’s particle-filled clouds filled the projection of my game, causing my headphone frame rate to drop. This issue usually occurred after a heavy spinout when I turned off all the driving aids. When I relied on the game’s optional F1-for-dummies, all-assists, F1 2022 felt like a fantastic carnival ride.

Codemasters did not have much to show for F1 2022 at SGF, but the ride was fun enough to excite me as I was playing VR on my computer when it was released on June 28th.
Animal Well game trailer
Animal well
Platforms: PS5, PC Scheduled Release: Principles 2023 Links: Steam | PSN | Official webpage At some point, the oversaturation of “seek-adventure” indie games (better known as “Metroidvanias”) has to make its way, right? What can anyone else do to surpass established critics like Hollow Knight, Axiom Verge and Cave Story? Although I’m not immediately convinced that Animal Well will surpass the other greats of the genre, my one-hour demo moved me very, very much. First, it has new, beautiful pixel rendering ideas, thanks to the unique designer, programmer, and artist who built the gaming machine from scratch — and condenses the full package to 10MB. The game’s lighting and physics models are some of the most striking I’ve ever seen in a 16-bit aesthetic, perhaps surpassing the madness with Noita’s pixelated, chemical reactions. In addition, this adventure has clever ideas on how to completely bypass the battle. Animal Well asks players to focus on challenging maneuvers, solving puzzles and discovering hidden paths as they unravel the mysteries that hide the lack of dialogue. Instead of wielding weapons, your hero’s eight-pixel drop should make the most of objects such as crackers — throwing lighting effects on the 2D world to scare off potential enemies — and an easy-to-use whip that can be thrown into cracks to grab various elements. of the world. The clever controls and spooky pixel-art designs have demonstrated my experience with Animal Well so far and I look forward to its final release (currently linked to a fuzzy “early 2023” window).
