Kieran Scott appeared in Hull Magistrates’ Court today in his first court appearance. He is accused of killing Daniel Thomas, 53, known as Mark Thomas, after an incident on Sherburn Street, Holderness Road in Hull on Tuesday. Scott entered the dock surrounded by two police officers. Wearing a gray sweater and unshaven, the 19-year-old spoke only to confirm his name and age and then added that he did not currently have a fixed address. One charge of the murder concerning Mr Thomas’s death was read, but no mention was made. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Sherburn Street at around 5.30pm. on Tuesday 14 June, following reports of concern for the safety of a man. Mr Thomas was taken to hospital for treatment of his injuries, but unfortunately died. Two men were initially arrested, but one was released without further police action. Humberside Police Senior Investigator Officer Detective Inspector Nicole Eliot said after the incident: “People living in the area will continue to see an increased number of police officers in the coming days as we conduct surveys and provide local reassurances to locals.
