There’s something bad going on between Taylor Swift fans and Ticketmaster.
Advance sales for a handful of dates on the singer’s new tour began Tuesday. But furious fans are reporting that the ticketing website appeared to crash or freeze when purchasing. Customers took to Twitter to complain that Ticketmaster would not load or allow them to access the tickets despite having a presale code for verified fans.
“I have a code and I’m signed into the right account but it says I’m not verified?! What should I do?” one fan tweeted. Others echoed this complaint, with some asking Ticketmaster to “FIX THIS”.
However, Ticketmaster told CNN Business that “the site is not down” and that “people are actively buying tickets.”
Ticketmaster issued a follow-up Tuesday afternoon on Twitter, writing that “there has been historically unprecedented demand with millions showing up” for tickets to Swift’s tour. He told customers still waiting in the virtual queue that it was moving and “sticking tight”.
In response to demand, Ticketmaster changed the presale start times for Swift’s other concert dates. “We thank you for your patience as we continue to manage this tremendous demand,” the company said.
“Fans who have received a code in the TaylorSwiftTix Presale should log in and access the queue via the link they received via text instead of entering via the Ticketmaster homepage,” the company said. “This will ensure an optimal shopping experience.”
The US leg of ‘The Eras Tour’ kicks off on March 18th at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona and concludes on August 5th at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
Swift recently became the first artist to hold all ten top spots on the Billboard Hot 100 simultaneously following the release of her latest album, “Midnights.”
