John Aniston was the Emmy-winning star of the soap opera Days Of Our Lives and a veteran of the US Navy. In a touching tribute on Instagram, his daughter, Friends star Jennifer, wrote: “Sweet daddy… John Anthony Aniston. You were one of the most beautiful people I have ever met. “I am so grateful that you have soared into the skies in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 [Armistice Day and US Veterans’ Day] not less! You always had perfect timing. “That number will forever have an even greater meaning to me now.” John Aniston was born as Yiannis Anastasakis in Crete, and immigrated with his family to Pennsylvania when he was a child. He is best known for his role as Victor Kyriakis on Days Of Our Lives, but his credits also include Search for Tomorrow, The West Wing and Gilmore Girls. His performance as Victor was recognized in 2017 when he was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. And earlier this year, John was honored with a Daytime Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award for his role on the show. In addition to Jennifer, whom John shared with his first wife and fellow actress Nancy Dow, John also had a son, Alexander, with his second wife Sherry Rooney.
