Sources close to the ‘SNL’ star tell TMZ … Chris is set to undergo surgery Tuesday in the Big Apple to complete the job of permanently repairing his broken nose. Now that it’s been a few weeks since the original injury — and the swelling has gone down — our sources say a doctor will have a clear view on how to fix it. Play TMZ.com video content We’re told the procedure will consist of breaking Chris’ nose back into place … and then letting it heal in hopes that the structure will return to its original shape. There is a lot of damage…remember, one of the bones in Chris’s face was broken into 3 pieces. Our sources tell us that she will be under general anesthesia for about 2-3 hours and a plastic surgeon who specializes in this sort of thing will oversee the operation. While it may sound cosmetic, we’re told Chris isn’t aiming to change anything about his appearance. Remember, it all started when a guy hit Chris in the face with brass knuckles in a failed attempt to steal his chain. He left the comic in bad shape, with stitches in place as a temporary fix. No arrests have been made and police are still searching for the perpetrator. Although he’s recovered well, we’re told this latest setback will delay more of his shows, even though our sources tell us Chris is eager to get back on stage.
