Public Information Officer of the Winnipeg Police Service Const. Jay Murray said police were called to the 3900 block on Portage Ave. around 7pm following reports of shootings.
A 16-year-old man was taken to hospital in critical condition, he said.
Police say three people have been detained in connection with the shooting and are facing charges.

Garth Rogerson, CEO of the Red River Exhibition Association, told CTV News Monday night that a major incident occurred around 7pm, but did not provide further details.
“Our paramedics took care of someone and took them to the hospital,” he said. “Winnipeg police responded immediately and the man was arrested almost immediately as well.”
He said the park remained open, adding that it operated under the guidance of police who told him it was not necessary to close it.
