Ukrainian media reported on Saturday that Yevhen Sobolev, who heads a prison in Kherson, was injured when a bomb stuck in a tree exploded while he was parking his car. A video released Saturday shows Mr Sobolev’s white luxury car deformed by an explosion that was so powerful that it shattered the windows of a nearby apartment building. Vladimir Saldo, head of the Russian occupation administration in Kherson, on Sunday blamed the Ukrainian government for the attack. “Preliminary reports indicate that a powerful improvised explosive device was detonated, but Yevhen Sobolev is alive and well,” Saldo said in a statement. “Ukrainian authorities are doing everything they can to thwart efforts to restore peaceful life in Kherson by terrorizing its inhabitants.”
