A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “At around 2.30am Today (21/06) the police were called for the sudden death of a woman around 40 on a property in Standen Way, in Blunsdon St Andrew.
“Her death is currently being treated as unexplained and a 70-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He is currently in police custody.
“People living in the area will see an increased police presence throughout the day and we want to provide reassurance that there is no danger to the general public.
“Anyone with information is asked to call 101, citing calendar 26 today.”
At the time of writing, at noon, three forensic vans were parked sporadically around Standen Way, and several police cars and police officers from the police community were seen patrolling the area on bicycles.
A car with an officer was sitting inside and guarding the property directly, a two-story house on the roof, with a garden full of colorful roses.
Journalist Daniel Wood said: “No movement is visible to the police around the road and at present, there is no apparent police film or forensic activity outside the property.
“No one is around. If the police vans and cars were not there, you would have no idea something had happened.”
A private ambulance arrived at the small dead end of the houses at 12.45 pm and left shortly afterwards. Medical examiners remained at the scene as the investigation continues.
The circumstances surrounding the death of the hitherto unknown female victim and why the police deemed him unexplained are not yet known.
As of 1:10 p.m., Wiltshire police have confirmed that there has been no information on the case and the man who was arrested remains in custody.
More to come.
