Three Indonesian government and medical officials said he was being treated on the resort island, with two of them saying Lavrov was being treated for a heart condition. Officials said he was taken to Sanglah Hospital in the provincial capital, Denpasar, but the hospital did not immediately comment. Bali Governor Wayan Koster later said Lavrov had been brought in for a “check-up” and “returned immediately”. The Russian Foreign Ministry dismissed claims he was in hospital as “fake news”. In a post on Telegram, the director of the ministry’s information and press department, Maria Zakharova, said: “We can’t believe our eyes: it turns out that he is hospitalized. “This is, of course, the stunts of fakers. Well, wait, world exclusive.” Sky News Moscow correspondent Diana Magnai said Zakharova shared a video showing Lavrov sitting in his shorts and working on a balcony.
