Winnipeg police have confirmed that officers are currently investigating what they described as an “incident” in the Red River report. Police said one person was injured and taken to hospital in critical condition. However, the police did not have more details.
Garth Rogerson, CEO of the Red River Exhibition Association, told CTV News that a major incident occurred around 7 p.m.
Police at the scene at the Red River report after a man was taken to hospital.
“Our paramedics took care of someone and took them to the hospital,” he said. “Winnipeg police responded immediately and the man was arrested almost immediately as well.”
He said the park had remained open, adding that the park was operating under the guidance of police who told him it was not necessary to close it.
Rogerson said he had no further details on what exactly happened. He said police are continuing investigations.
