Here’s a good example of why laws are in place to restrict people from discharging a firearm near residential areas. RCMP on the Southwest Coast believe a rifle bullet that struck a home on Ridgeview Crescent in Isle aux Morts was a stray bullet that may have been fired by a hunter from a distant wooded area. The bullet struck the house last Saturday morning during the day, went through an exterior wall and then an interior wall before landing in a bedroom closet. The house was unoccupied at the time. The provincial Wildlife Act prohibits a person from discharging a firearm within 1,000 meters of a school, playground or sports field, or within 300 meters of a residence.
