In a later statement, the force said there was a chemical leak in the Queen Alexandra Dock and three people were taken to hospital. A South Wales police spokesman said: “South Wales police have been called to the scene of a chemical leak in Queen Alexandra Dock, Butetown. The fire department has attempted the incident. “Please avoid the area and keep windows and doors closed if you are in the Queen Alexandra Docks area. Do not contact our control room about this incident.” The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service asked people living nearby to close their doors and windows in the dock area. Live updates follow.
