Firefighters responded to a call for a garage fire on Queen Street, between Kent and Lyon streets, just before 8:30 a.m. Fire crews were seen battling the fire on the roof near the garage entrance. Ottawa Fire received multiple 911 calls reporting smoke and flames coming from the exterior roof of an underground parking garage exit. “Firefighters launched a rapid attack to extinguish the fire and had water on the fire within minutes of arriving on scene,” the Ottawa Fire Department said in a statement....

Red River North RCMP officers responded to the crash on Highway 8 near RM West St. Paul around 12:50 p.m. According to police, one of the cars stopped heading south on Highway 8, partly on dirt road, when it was behind. The driver and the only person in the stopped car, a 70-year-old woman from Winnipeg, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and the only one in the other car, a 21-year-old from the West....

The population-based study, published Monday in the journal Frontiers in Medicine, analyzed data from 2011 to 2017 for patients with cutaneous melanoma in all provinces and territories except Quebec. The researchers also looked at mortality trends over a seven-year period and compared them with previous data from 1992 to 2010. The data showed that of the 39,610 patients diagnosed with this type of melanoma, 5,890 died. Women accounted for almost 46 percent of cases and just over 37 percent of deaths....
