Toronto police said they were called to the area of Midland and Passmore avenues, south of Steeles Avenue East, around 6:30 p.m. When they arrived, officers located a male victim near a vehicle in the parking lot suffering from serious gunshot wounds. Police performed CPR on the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. The homicide unit has been called in to investigate. Duty Insp. Lori Cranenburg said a suspect was seen fleeing the area on foot. However, no description has been published. When asked what led to the shooting, Kranenburg said they don’t have information on exactly what happened. “At this time, this appears to be an isolated incident. I have no information to suggest that there is any ongoing risk to the public,” he said. Officers are in the area looking for evidence, Kranenburg said. She is asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
