Okay, yeah, we know we’re a little late with the May eShop Selects, but come on, it’s not the E3 season! However, we come back again to gather the best deals of the month. Admittedly, it was relatively quiet for the most part, but that does not mean there were no diamonds (we might have been a little cheeky and included one or two toys in a box this month – hi, it was quiet, okay ?!). So let’s go crack! Well, first round up some honors that did not enter our top three, but are still worth checking out independently. 3. OPUS: Echo of Starsong – Full Bloom Edition (Switch eShop)
Publisher: Sigono / Developer: Sigono Release Date: 11 May 2022 (USA) / 11 May 2022 (United Kingdom / EU) At number three is the wonderful narrative title OPUS: Echo of Starsong. In our review we called it “an emotional adventure that represents the top of the series to date and easily one of the best games based on the story in Switch”, emphasizing the incredible atmosphere that emerges and the emotional weight of the story. 2. PAC-MAN MUSEUM + (switch)
Publisher: Bandai Namco / Developer: Bandai Namco Release Date: 27 May 2022 (USA) / 27 May 2022 (United Kingdom / EU) This month’s silver medal is the PAC-MAN MUSEUM +, an enjoyable selection of some of the most iconic releases of all time. It has a lot to offer, with online leaderboards and missions to complete, and we loved how solid the simulation was for each game. Some of the external content may have been missing a bit, but that does not detract from the fact that this collection includes some of the best games of all time. 1. Citizen Sleeper (Switch eShop)
Publisher: Fellow Traveler / Developer: Jump Over The Age Release Date: 5 May 2022 (USA) / 5 May 2022 (United Kingdom / EU) And in first place this month is Citizen Sleeper, a game that was unanimously enjoyed by many of our staff. Its powerful narration and writing can be compared to those of the incredible Disco Elysium and we especially enjoyed the beautiful art style that appears along with the amazing soundtrack of the synth waves. How we decide our eShop Chooses the first three: As we reach the end of each month, Nintendo Life staff vote on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as a Nintendo Switch online store title for digital use only this month and have been tested on Nintendo Life. we select the qualifying games based on their scores. Staff are then asked to vote on three games they believe deserve to be at the top of this list. The first option gets 3 points, the second option gets 2 points and the third option gets 1 point. These votes are then counted to create a list of the top three places, with the overall winner getting that month’s top prize.
