The Perimeter is closed in both directions between Highway 6 and CentrePort Canada Way and RCMP say it will likely remain that way for a while. “Traffic is already backed up and conditions are very slippery,” RCMP spokeswoman Tara Seel said in an email to CBC News. “There are injuries, but the extent of the injuries and what collisions have occurred will have to wait as the focus right now is to take care of people and resolve the collisions so the road can be cleared.” The crashes, in both the southbound and northbound lanes of the freeway, happened just after 7 a.m. near the interchange between the Perimeter and Highway 221 (Rosser Road). RCMP say there were multiple crashes on the Perimeter Highway Thursday due to slippery conditions. (Darin Morash/CBC) That’s not the only place the RCMP had to go, Seel said. “We have multiple incidents in the Perimeter at the moment. I can’t provide more specific information on any of them at this time as our officers are still on the scene,” he said. Drivers are asked to avoid the Perimeter if possible due to the conditions, collisions and the large presence of emergency responders, RCMP said. More news from CBC Manitoba:
