Emergency crews were called shortly before 7 a.m. Friday south of Brantford near Waterford. Police say the motorcycle was heading north on Cockshutt Street when it collided with a truck on Thompson Road East. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the spot. The driver of the truck had to be released from the vehicle by the Fire Brigade and is now being treated for serious injuries. “It was a very turbulent situation,” said the sergeant. Ed Sanchuk of the OPP. Police are investigating the cause of the accident and closed the area for most of the night. On Tuesday night, just 10 minutes away from the area, another motorcyclist was killed in a collision. “We see this on a regular basis,” Sgt said. Sanchuk. “These conflicts can be avoided a lot.” Robert McCready is a member of the North of 42 Riders and says he drives on the road every day. “People do not seem to be paying the attention they used to,” McCready said. “They always want to find a place they want to be, whether it’s in a car or on a motorcycle. “I want to make sure I go home to my family. My children”. OPP says the intersection of Cockshutt and Thompson Roads was a two-way stop with a speed limit of 80 km / h. Last year it was converted into a four-way stop and lowered to a speed limit of 60 km / h. Sanchuk asks drivers to be aware of their environment and drive at the right speed to reach their destination safely. Reported by Tyler Kelaher of CTV Kitchener
