The Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service told Derbyshire Live that the fire was first reported at 1:40 p.m. this afternoon (June 22) near the 11th tee of Matlock Golf Course in Sandy Lane. Crews from Matlock, Clay Cross, Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Glossop and Buxton are currently battling the fire. The first information from the fire service states that the fire covers an area of 150 meters by 50 meters – about the size of a football field. A specialized Unimog argocat (all-terrain vehicle) and aquifers are used at the site.
