Marjorie Taylor Green says she’s ready to unleash a civil war on the Republican Party after its poor showing in the midterm elections. The Georgia congresswoman also indicated she would support House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy in an interview on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast. “To succeed, we will have to work together. That means we’re going to fight it,” Ms Green said. “And I’m telling you, I’ve always said I’m not afraid of civil war in the GOP. I lean into it.” The GOP appears to be in open rebellion after the failure of the Republican “red wave” in last week’s midterm elections. House member Andy Biggs, a member of the far-right GOP Freedom Caucus, like Ms. Green, is seeking to challenge Mr. McCarthy for the leadership, according to reports in Politico. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she would be “leaning” into a GOP civil war in an interview on Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast. (War Room Podcast) Ms Greene said Mr Biggs was one of her “dearest friends” but this was not the time for an infighting over the party leadership. “I think that’s a bad strategy when we’re looking at having a very small majority, with potentially 219 (seats), we’re talking about one vote,” he said. “We’ve got to put somebody up for president who’s going to be elected and not allow the Democrats to take away one or two (votes) because that’s what they want to do,” he said. “Trust me, they can do it. It can be done.” Ms. Green also warned that some House Republicans could break away from the party and join with Democrats to elect outgoing Congresswoman Liz Cheney to the presidency. “The danger is, do we want to watch a challenge for the Speaker of the House just because the ‘Never Kevin’ movement — just like we’ve seen a ‘Never Trump’ movement — we want to see that challenge open the door?” to Nancy Pelosi giving the gavel to Liz Cheney?’ As of Monday afternoon, Republicans were projected to be well on their way to a narrow path to a majority in the House.
