A police statement said the victim and a friend were crossing West Fourth Avenue on Arbutus Street in the Kitsilano neighborhood at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The man, whose identity has not been identified by police, was hit by a newer gray sedan that they say looked like he was running fast. The driver did not stop and police said the victim died at the scene. Investigators have spoken to several witnesses, but call for video from the camera or surveillance photos from nearby businesses. Police believe the suspect vehicle was heading east on Fourth Avenue and has damage to the front.
