The 20-year-old was attacked around 2.55 in the early hours of Sunday in front of Word Up on Dalrymple Street. He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Police are checking CCTV from the area. Detectives have appealed to the public for information and have described a single male suspect under the age of 20, wearing dark sweaters, light-colored pants and white sneakers. They said they were very willing to talk to taxi drivers and those in the club. CID Detective Inspector Nikki Wake said: “The man received a violent physical assault, which resulted in him being hospitalized for serious injuries. “Our investigation into the attack is ongoing and we are conducting a CCTV check. “The male suspect is described as being in his early 20s, wearing a dark sweater, light pants and white sneakers. “We are willing to talk to anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to contact us. I would especially like to appeal to taxi drivers or those who attended the club to show up if you witnessed the attack. “Anyone with information should contact the police at 101 stating the incident number 0623 on Sunday 19 June or alternatively call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
