Several police cars and an ambulance were seen on the street near Chester Green, which was closed for several hours. Police said the accident, which involved a Vauxhall Combo van, also injured two other people. A 62-year-old man remains in serious condition in hospital and a 34-year-old woman was slightly injured. Police say the 40-year-old was driving the van while the three injured were passengers. A Derby County football jersey is nailed to a fence outside Derby Gaskets Ltd on Mansfield Road, along with many bunches of flowers. The shirt appeared to have a nickname written on it, next to the letters “CLF”, on a black marker. As of this morning (June 19), Mansfield Road is normally open with minimal signs from the events of the previous afternoon. The road leads directly to the Meteor Center, one of Derby’s busiest retail parks. Reports of the road closure came shortly after 9pm on Saturday night. Pictures and videos from the scene show several police cars in attendance as well as an ambulance. Police confirmed at 4.51 today that the road was fully open and is now appealing for information about the incident.
