The man identified as Carrie Enzley, 73, has a history of harassing women, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. On Friday morning, Jefferson County lawmakers responded to a 911 call from a hiker who said he was actively witnessing two people being held at gunpoint on a path, according to a press release. When the deputies arrived a few minutes after the phone call, they located the two victims, a husband and wife, who had managed to escape safely from their abductor.

The story goes on under the ad Deputies found the suspect a short distance away and Endsley pulled a gun, which police later learned was a stun gun, to police. One of the deputies shot Ensley but failed and the second officer developed his teaser, hitting the man. Endsley was arrested by police and taken to a local hospital. After interviewing the abduction victims, investigators learned that the married couple was ambushed by the man, who was kneeling and tying his shoes, after approaching him on the trail. As the couple passed, the man pulled out his pistol and ordered the woman to fall to the ground. According to the press release, the suspect “put a nylon strap around her neck”.

The man ordered the two victims to come with him and, at some point, the husband was able to take the gun from their abductor and the couple fled. During the test, both victims eventually identified the suspect as Endsley, who had “changed his physical appearance and disguised himself,” police said. The woman has an active restraining order against Ensley and the sheriff’s office said there were police reports reflecting Ensley’s history of harassment against her. The story goes on under the ad

Police charged Endsley with second-degree kidnapping, felony criminal mischief and violation of a restrictive order.
