Halton Regional Police tweeted shortly after 8 a.m. that Oakville Trafalgar High School was placed on lockdown due to the threat.
There was no word on the exact nature of the threat.  No injuries were reported.
“The investigation into the threat is ongoing at this time.  Parents/students are requested not to attend school,” police said in their original tweet.
About two hours later police said the lockdown had been lifted, although the investigation was ongoing.
“Oakville Trafalgar High School has been cleared by officers and is considered safe,” police said.  “The presence of the police in the area is expected.  The investigation is ongoing.”
No other details have been released so far.
