Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says he is committed to the club regardless of what happens with the current ownership. Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have said they are looking for new investment, but some reports claim they are willing to sell Liverpool as a whole. The move has alarmed some Liverpool fans who are worried about a potential upset at Anfield, with question marks over Klopp’s future. On Wednesday, Liverpool beat Derby County on penalties in the Carabao Cup. Speaking for the first time since the FSG stories emerged on Monday, Klopp said he was not going anywhere and the news had not affected his plans for that third-round tie with the League One side. “What I’ve read is that they’re looking for investment,” he said. “Good idea, I like it. “But he didn’t withdraw the preparation at all. The players didn’t ask me and, to me, it means nothing. “I have a great relationship with FSG. I really like the way it works, but if it changes, I’m committed to the club and it’s not about the people here.” Klopp said any comparison with Chelsea, whose new ownership also brought about huge changes behind the scenes and ultimately the sacking of manager Thomas Tuchel, was invalid. “The situation is completely different,” he said. “Chelsea had to be sold because the owner had a problem and there was an emergency. We don’t have that here at all. “It’s important while this process is happening that we continue and plan. “These things take time and in the meantime we have to keep going. I will make sure it is so. “Right now nothing happened. It’s just news. And nobody had a heart attack and went, ‘Oh my God.’ Whatever happens we’ll deal with it.”
