The Comprehensive Homicide Investigation Team has been deployed to Chilliwack after two people were found dead inside a home on South Sumas Street. In a press release, Mounties said Chilliwack RCMP officers received a call at approximately 2 a.m. Tuesday reporting that two people were found dead inside a residence in the 44400-block of South Sumas Road. “Investigators attended the scene and determined that these deaths appeared to be suspicious in nature,” police said. “IHIT has been developed and will work in partnership with the Chilliwack RCMP. Police are in the evidence gathering stage of this investigation. At this stage, it appears to be an isolated incident and there is not believed to be a threat to the public at this time.” According to the RCMP, investigators are working to determine a motive and whether the deaths may be connected to an ongoing gang conflict or drug trade.
