After a delayed safety car – caused by the crash of Yuki Tsunoda at the dam at turn 2 in lap 49 – Sainz was able to get into a pit and had the tire advantage in Verstappen for the remaining 16 laps. But Verstappen was almost flawless, holding the Spaniard to seal his sixth win of the season. Lewis Hamilton, with Mercedes, climbed to second place of the year in P3, ahead of teammate George Russell in fourth place. Charles Leclerc recovered from the start at P19 and finished fifth, ahead of Esteban Ocon’s Alpine’s and Fernando Alonso in sixth and seventh place. The Alfa Romeo duo of Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu finished in eighth and ninth place, with Lance Stroll finishing in the top 10 in his home race.
