They divorced in part due to substance abuse and alcoholism – something they both suffered from. In a rare interview, Kenny explained: “We were all waiting for him to die. I had spent so much time living together worrying about him. “I honestly hated the fact that I was so worried about him. What is the line he says in one of his songs? He says, “I see it in your eyes when you look at me like that, it tears me in two.” And it really happened. “I just did not know what to do.” “I was worried about him all the time. “Please do not say it in the wrong way, if you love someone you are worried about him”, he added. He always said that I saved his life. I think it’s more or less, but I really tried. “ Reflecting on his relationship with George, Kenny described him as “one of the most honest people I have ever met” and said that everyone always got the truth from the singer. Kenny also said he did not believe George had ever considered himself “good-looking”, but knew he was a “talented man and a good songwriter”. Loss: Wham George star died of heart disease on Christmas Day 2016 at the age of 53, but art dealer Kenny, 63, said it was no shock to his loved ones He continued: “I do not think he thought he had a good time in his life. I always tried to remind him or tell him, you know, “You look very good today. You’re a handsome man.” It was very difficult for him… People would think he would have a much bigger sense of ‘Well, I’m a nice guy’. “But what he did know was that he was a talented man and a good songwriter. I mean, he was a good man. “ “He was one of the most wonderful men in the world,” he added. Speaking of their open relationship, Kenny admitted that George was “probably more open” than the two of them as he sprang from his love for the songwriter. Support: The businessman went on to say that George (both in the photo in May 2004) had given him what saved his life and that Kenny had “really tried” to do so. Kenny went on to reveal that George chose him as his partner in an attempt to “please his mother” and said that he had many similarities with Lesley. “He thought his mother and I were very much alike. “And in many ways we were,” he said. “I would say that I am much more of a guy who plays by the rules and she was kind of the same way. I am also not at all critical. “ Reflecting on their relationship and George’s fight over drugs, Kenny said he did not like being described as “long-suffering”, adding: “I really tried to be there for him and he knew it.” Kenny was the muse for George’s songwriting and during a tour in 2014, George told his fans that he had written the song Where I Hope You Are, which he admitted was inspired by their separation. Star: Kenny also said he did not believe George (pictured in September 2012) ever considered himself “handsome”, but knew he was a “talented man”. Reflecting on George’s songs for him, Kenny said he began reading the lyrics as he could not remember the words at all. He explained: “I can honestly say that I can not remember the words in the songs he wrote for me. Its a shame. “Ever since he died, I started reading the lyrics. In fact, I started doing it before he died. “ Kenny has rarely spoken about George’s death, but in 2017, he spoke to the Dallas Morning News about the couple’s relationship, which ended in 2009 and was announced in 2011. He said: “We just had a very good, sweet relationship. We were not even angry with each other or anything like that. It was really the love of my life. And I think I was the love of his life. “ In the aftermath of the singer’s death on Christmas Day 2016, Kenny issued a moving statement mourning his ex-lover.
“I am shocked by the news that my dear friend and longtime lover George Michael has died,” he wrote. He was an important part of my life and I loved him very, very much. He was an extremely kind and generous man. “The beautiful memories and music he brought to the world will always be an important part of my life and those who also loved and admired him.” Musa: Reflecting on George’s songs about him, Kenny (both pictured in November 2007) said he began reading the lyrics as he could not remember the words they were saying.
