One of the two people killed in a fatal crash in Alberta on Friday was a former Kelowna resident. Denelle Brazeau grew up in Kelowna and attended Rutland Senior Secondary. Shortly after 9 a.m. on June 17, emergency crews were called to Highway 2 near Okotoks. Investigators believe a northbound passenger truck driven by a man crashed into the southern lanes of the highway and collided with an oncoming SUV driven by Brazeau. Both drivers lost their lives on the spot. Ben Schwarz has been a friend of Brazeau for years and watched RSS with her. A GoFundMe has been set up to help cover funeral expenses and help set up a trust fund for Brazeau’s two children. “I had friends who all came together at my house and then asked me to start GoFundMe. I’m still close to my eldest son. That way everyone knows the money will get where they need to go. It’s just surreal,” Schwartz said. . To donate to GoFundMe, click here. Photo: CTV Calgary
