The London Fire Department said eight fire engines were on the scene and half of the twelfth-floor apartment was on fire. The apartment building in Queensdale Crescent in Shepherds Bush is just a 15-minute walk from the site of the Grenfell Tower fire. Video taken from the scene of the fire by the BBC shows an apartment being blacked out by fire damage. According to the London Ambulance Service, several patients were rushed to the scene. Three people from the affected apartment had left before the fire brigade arrived and several other residents were evacuated from the building this morning. “Firefighters led six residents to safety through an internal staircase. “Other residents who were not affected by the fire, heat or smoke were advised to stay in their apartments,” said station commander David Bryswell, who was at the scene.
