Exxon Mobil confirmed that earlier this afternoon they had “experienced an operational issue” at one of its plants. Flares can be seen burning for miles away as teams respond to deal with the situation. The company has also warned that the on-site siren can be heard and is part of the procedures. On Twitter, the oil company said: “We are currently dealing with an operational issue on site. Our teams have responded and are working to address the situation. “Our on-site siren can be heard and is part of our procedures. Our own field teams are responding and working to address the situation and isolate the unit in question. “We are using our flares, which are part of our standard safety and operating procedures, to assist with this task. “We apologize if the use of flares caused us any inconvenience.” We are currently dealing with an operational issue on site.
