Brussels is preparing to introduce the European Travel Information and Authorization System (Etias) from November next year, with arrivals from outside the bloc having to apply online before travelling. Approval will be required to enter any of the 27 member states, with 1.4 billion people from more than 60 visa-exempt countries, including Britain, applying. It will cost €7 and will last for three years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. The system will work in a similar way to the US Esta, which grants many holidaymakers visa-free entry to the United States. Travelers will be encouraged to apply at least 96 hours in advance
