An application for both a name change and a new birth certificate reflecting her new gender identity was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Santa Monica in April. It came to light recently in some online media. Former Xavier Alexander Musk, who recently turned 18 in California at the age of consent, has asked the court to change her gender from male to female and register her new name, according to court documents available online via of PlainSite.org. Her new name was mentioned in the online document. Her mother is Justin Wilson, who divorced Musk in 2008. There was no further explanation for the rift between Musk’s daughter and her father, the head of Tesla and SpaceX, which is trying to acquire the $ 44 billion Twitter social networking platform. Neither a lawyer representing Musk nor Tesla’s media office immediately responded to Reuters emails Monday asking for comment. In May, about a month after the renaming document was filed, Musk announced his support for the Republican Party, whose elected representatives are backing a series of laws that would restrict trans rights to states across the country. Musk addressed the issue of trans people choosing their preferred nicknames, writing on Twitter in 2020, “I fully support trans, but all of these nicknames are an aesthetic nightmare.” (Report by Daniel Trotta: edited by Ross Colvin and Gerry Doyle)
