Victorian police have arrested a man after they shot at a driver who was going to meet his daughter for breakfast Saturday morning. Police were called to the intersection of Douglas and Finlayson streets by a report that a driver had pointed a gun at another driver. At around 9:45 a.m., the victim reported that another vehicle was moving dangerously in front of him and was blocking the passage of another traffic. When the victim managed to pass, the other driver started shouting and pointing the gun. The victim left the area, reached a safe place and called 911, while he also managed to use his mobile phone to take photos of the suspicious vehicle – which he shared with the police. Shortly afterwards, police were alerted that a vehicle was parked in front of an operation on the 3,000-square-foot Shelbourne Street and the driver showed signs of disability. His description matched that of the driver in the previous incident and the police arrested him at gunpoint. They searched the car and found a pellet-shaped pellet pistol, as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia. The driver failed a field sobriety test and was taken to police cells for further investigation into the drug disorder. Police said the car had a number of deficiencies that made it dangerous to drive. The man was released on a court date and is facing recommended charges for pointing a firearm and impaired driving. He also received a 24-hour driving ban and tickets for both traffic violations and cannabis law violations. Victorian police continue to search for witnesses.
