There are also concerns about her husband, Anthony Cianflone, who lives at the home, who has a long criminal record, including assault charges as recently as July. Gillian Fehr runs four nurseries in Victoria called Gillybird Nature Academy. “There are, I’m sure there are countless amazing Permits not required in Victoria. This situation is so sad for them because they dedicate their lives to providing care,” Fehr said. It has 500 families on its waiting list and is currently closed to further additions. Fehr is aware of the allegations against Hawkins. “I totally understand parents who are desperate and looking for signs and there aren’t any,” Fehr said. “And they see something pop up or someone posts that they have a space. They’re just absolutely thrilled.” Fehr recommends that before parents choose a daycare center, they should request a criminal record check for everyone living in the home and ask for proof of a first aid ticket. It says deposits must be paid a month in advance. “They are first-time parents who have never had this procedure before. So they believe what a provider tells them, who says they have all the right certification, and people don’t know how to make them prove it,” Fehr said. Hawkins continues to solicit spaces for her daycare on Facebook as of Wednesday.
