Okay, maybe that’s not too shocking. It may be the intermittent status quo for months, if not years, and Diaz is once again pushing the UFC to either give him the fight he wants or let him find that fight on his own. Diaz started his latest public controversy with the promotion on Monday, when he posted on Twitter a public demand either to fight in July or August or to get rid of his contract. In particular, he attached a video with Jake Paul knocking out former UFC welterweight champion Tyrone Woodley on the possible subject of “s ***’s to do”. Diaz currently has one fight left on his contract, according to ESPN, and turned down an offer to face rising star Khamzat Chimaev, instead of expressing interest in one of Dustin Poirier, Vicente Luque and Tony Ferguson. He lost his most recent fight to Leon Edwards by unanimous decision at UFC 263 earlier this month. A day later, UFC President Dana White discussed Diaz’s latest request in an interview with The Mac Life and was not exactly commendable for Diaz’s strengths as a fighter at this point in his career. He even suggested to Diaz to go ahead and close Jake Paul’s fight: “You do not have to be a rocket scientist to see it and see a lot of games and everything. “I like Nate. Let ‘s be honest, Nate has won a fight in the last five or six years. [Donald] Cerrones and Anthony Pettis before he left and you have Nate Diaz and Nick Diaz still under contract. “You want to be fair and do the right thing, whatever it is. Nate Diaz is not going to come and fight Kamaru Usman. We try to do the best we can, trying not to hit anyone and not respect each other. anyone, but it’s not that we’re talking about Kamaru Usman here. We’re talking about Nate Diaz. Nate won a fight in five years. We’re trying to figure this out with him. a fight that makes sense. “ The story goes on White is right that Diaz has won one fight – Anthony Pettis at UFC 241 in 2019 – since he won his career over Conor McGregor in 2016. Diaz apparently listened to White as he sent a request to the UFC to send a release hours later. He then included two emojis: a blond man who may or may not resemble Paul and a boxing glove. It may be worth noting that Paul recently announced that his next match will take place on August 6, but without confirming the opponent. There has been a lot of speculation about who will enter the ring with Paul, and Diaz, as an older MMA fighter, would fit in with the recent influencer trends. Paul even made his own statement to White, saying he would be happy to face Diaz in the Octagon and even fight for free, as long as White increased the fighters’ pay and paid for their health care (White is not going to does this). There are obviously a lot of moving parts in it. All sides seem to agree that Diaz wants and should fight, either against Paul or within the UFC, but it’s a little more complicated than that.
